Born From the Heartland
Mellencougar began in 2007 when a group of radio veterans from the Illinois/Midwest scene decided to do the one thing nobody else had dared — bring John Cougar Mellencamp's heartland sound back to life with the authenticity it deserves.
Shortly after forming, General Manager Don Wilson received a personal call from Toby Myers — John's bass player from 1980–2001 — inviting them to play his 64th birthday celebration. That night, both Toby Myers and Moe Z M.D. (JCM Keys & Vocals, 1998–2005) joined them on stage. No other tribute band can say that.
Since then, Mellencougar has earned rave reviews from Toby's own barn stage to festivals, casinos, theaters, and parks across America. They are the only tribute to John Mellencamp — a distinction that makes every show far more than an imitation.
Available as a headline act or premium festival opener, Mellencougar delivers a full Mellencamp experience for your venue, festival, casino, park district, or private event.
